Abstract:In the paper, a new 4-point approximating subdivision scheme is presented for quadrilateral nets with 4-valence topology. The scheme generates the limit surface of C3 in the limit at the regular face and quasi-tangent plane continuous at the irregular region. Compared with other algorithms, the main advantage of the scheme is that the limit surface generated by the scheme can hold the shape of initial control polyhedron better than others. In addition, the smoothness is better than our past result. So it is useful in geometric design and modelling.
