Abstract:A local scheme for interpolating data over a circular and spherical domain is presented. The generalized wedge function method of constructing the Cμ-rational spline function classes over planar triangles and quadrilaterals have been investigated by the first author. In this paper, based on the generalized wedge function method, we construct the C1 rational splines interpolating the scattered data on the circle and the sphere. Then by using the concept of circular and spherical barycentric coordinates introduced by Alfeld et al, we get the representations in barycentric form. In the end of this paper some numerical examples are illustrated.
