Comparative Study on the Catalytic Properties of Commercial V2O5 and V2O5 Nanobelts on the Thermal Decomposition of Ammonium Perchlorate

摘要:V2O5 nanobelts were successfully synthesized using commercial V2O5, ethanol and water as the starting materials by a template-free hydrothermal method and subsequent calcination. The as-obtained products were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Furthermore, the comparative study on the catalytic properties of the commercial V2O5 and the as-prepared V2O5 nanobelts on the thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP) were evaluated by Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis and Differential Thermal Analysis (TGA/DTA), which showed the thermal decomposition temperatures of AP in the presence of 3 wt% of commercial V2O5 and the as-prepared V2O5 nanobelts were reduced to 420 degrees C and 396 degrees C (decreased by 36 degrees C and 60 degrees C), respectively. The results indicated that V2O5 had great influence on the thermal decomposition temperature of AP, and V2O5 nanobelts had greater catalytic activity on the thermal decomposition temperature of AP than that of commercial V2O5.
