Abstract:To control premixed compression ignition phase in internal combustion
engines,a new method called high pressure air jet controlled compression
ignition(JCCI)was proposed to realize premixed combustion at all load
operations. To investigate the in-cylinder premixed combustion processes
of high pressure air JCCI,a three-dimensional CFD model coupled with
reduced chemical kinetics has been developed to simulate the ignition
and combustion at different air jet pressures. Simulation results show
that the combustion phase of pre-mixture can be controlled near the top
dead center with different high pressure air jets, and rapid combustion
can be realized at low air jet pressure. Intensification of low
temperature reactions and high to low of high temperature reactions are
observed. At high air jet pressure, the decreased and delayed peak
   pressure,long combustion duration,low in-cylinder temperature, decreased
NO_x emissions and increased CO emissions could be found.
