Co-gasification of Bituminous Coal and Different Biomass Feedstocks by Thermogravimetry (TGA)

摘要:Co-gasification of coal and biomass is a potential way to relieve the energy crisis and reduce the emission of CO2, which is responsible for global warming. A new method was used to study the synergy during co-gasification of coal and biomass. A Chinese bituminous coal and three different biomass fuels, soybean stalk (SS), corn stalk (CS) and metasequoia (MQ) were used as feedstocks. Biomass and coal were placed in two crucibles, either separately or mixed together with equal mass, and then co-pyrolyzed and co-gasified by means of thermogravimertry (TGA). It turned out that the alkali and alkaline earth metals naturally present in biomass played a catalytic role in the co-gasification steps, giving rise to an evident synergy observation. The extents of the synergy seemed to be closely correlated to the amount of K in biomass. K showed the catalytic activity more pronounced than Ca for char gasification.
