Abstract: A straightforward route for the preparation of decatetraene diketone derivates is presented. The synthesis has been accomplished by a one-step procedure starting from phenyl-substituted pyrylium perchlorates, and an elaborate heterocyclic alpha-radical mechanism was proposed. This class of molecules displays a crystallization induced emission enhancement property.
