Abstract:Gravity structures in offshore and coastal engineering, usually have been constructed sitting on the rubble mound for the purpose of decreasing the pressures acting on the seabed. In this paper, a numerical approach is used based on the unsteady Forchheimer equation of motion in the pores of rubble mound. The equation is linearized using Lorentz's hypothesis of equivalent work. The linear wave theory is appled and the excitation is provided by a monochromatic incident wave. This boundary value problem is solved by using FEM. The numerical results are compared with experimental data.
