Abstract:There is no filling restriction in the cargo containment systems of the very large-scale Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG). Therefore, sloshing load becomes one of the control loads in the design of FLNG tank. Due to the compressibility of liquid and gas, slamming load performs significant different in large and small scaled tank. Larger the model tank is, more reality the result reflects. Experimental investigation on liquid slamming in a large-scaled prismatic tank under sway, surge, and roll excitations were conducted. The experiments focus on the variation of slamming load with different filling levels. Furthermore, the spatial distributions of the maximum impact pressure along the bulkheads are investigated. Then, the most serious filling rates for different excitation motions are presented. The results are useful for the researchers and engineers who are interested in slamming load in prismatic tank.
