摘要:C/SiC composites manufactured by the liquid silicon infiltration (LSI) process are potential materials for the application in high-performance structures. However, the formation and development of cracks during the carbonization step affects both the microstructure and phase composition of C/SiC composites to great extent. Previous experiments have shown that the fiber/matrix interface bonding plays an important role in the evolution of microstructures during the pyrolysis of CFRP to carbon/carbon preform. In order to understand the influence of fiber/matrix interface bonding on the microstructure and properties of C/SiC composites, the carbon fibers are thermally treated to modify the fiber/matrix interface bonding. The influence of thermal treatment of carbon fibers on the interfacial shear strength during the pyrolysis of CFRP to C/C composites was investigated by means of a single fiber push-out test. The results show that the thermal treatment of carbon fibers at 1500 C could significantly reduce the strength of interfacial shear. The interfacial shear strength of the composites reinforced with thermally treated fibers at 1500 C is 3 times lower than that of the as-received fiber reinforced composites.
