Abstract:Though bucket foundation used as a new type of foundation in shallow water can have significant advantages over conventional ones,the history of its development is relatively short and the method of design is still not mature.In this situation,the authors obtain the horizontal bearing capacity of bucket foundation based on three-dimensional finite element method and limit equilibrium method.According to the result,a simple formula for evaluating the horizontal bearing capacity of bucket foundation on saturated soft clay ground is given for engineering practice.
