摘要:In this paper we present an intelligent monitoring and scheduling system for vehicle delivery service. In order to manage pick-up and delivery operations more effectively, geographical information system (GIS), global positioning system (GPS) and wireless communication technologies are integrated in the system. The system consists of two subsystems, namely delivery monitoring centre and vehicle terminals system. Delivery monitoring centre is responsible for two operations, one of which is to generate routes and schedules of vehicles by using GIS and optimization techniques, and the other is to monitor current positions of vehicles and compare actual delivery results with planned sequences, routes and visiting time. It should be noted specially that the subsystem contains the model of emergency response decision support, which reduces the cost substantially facing unforeseen events. And the subsystem of vehicle terminals transmits information of vehicle positions and actual delivery results to the monitoring centre using GPS and wireless communication technologies.
