Abstract:As a novel mode to intake outdoor air for room ventilation, breathing w alls have been attracted significant concerns.T he airflow rate induced by a breathing w alldepends on both the therm aland the w ind pressure.T o obtain the causal quantitative relation betw een flow resistance and airflow rate, this investigation established tw o set of m odels in term s oftheoreticalcorrelation analysis and Com putationalFluid D ynam ics (CFD ).B oth m odels can take into account various conditions, such as, different radiation incidence, w ind pressure and porous filtration thickness. In addition, experim ental tests w ere also conducted to obtain data to validate both types of m odels. T he results show that the correlation m odel can provide accurate results that are com parable w ith the CFD m odeling but at m uch low er com putationalcost. Therefore, both m odelscan be applied to aid the design ofbreathing w alls.
