Measuring resuspension of deposited particles induced by sneezing jets

摘要:Deposited particles on indoor surfaces may resuspend when disturbed by strong sneezing jets and then enter airborne transmission again. This investigation experimentally measured the particle resuspension from the particle laden surface after a jet impingement. The simulating sneezing jets were created by a nozzle using the compressed nitrogen gas. Pulsed air jets were released into a particle-free wind tunnel where deposited particles were loaded. The titanium dioxide dusts were applied as the test particles, and both the glass and the stainless plates were used as the particle laden substrates. This study finds that the particle removal area on the particle laden surface reaches its maximum at a critical jet height. The number of resuspended airborne particles nearly decreases with increase of the jet height. The TiO2 dusts are easier to resuspend at a larger deposited surface density, when multiple layers of deposited dusts are formed and some particles are agglomerated.
