Numerical simulation of the flow field around fishing net under current

摘要:Based on the control equations consisting of the continuity equation, the momentum equation and realizable k- turbulence model, this paper introduces the porous media model to establish a two-dimensional numerical model of flow field around fishing net under current. The control equations are solved by two-dimensional segregated implicit algorithm. The unknown porous coefficients are determined from experimental normal drag forces and flow velocities using the least square method. Therefore, the porous media act the same water-blocking effect as the net. This numerical model is applied for modeling the flow field around a net panel under current and the numerical results are compared with data obtained by physical model tests. The velocity magnitude and the trend of velocity reduction of the numerical simulation agree well with the experimental data. On this basis, this paper also presents simulation of the flow field of a square cage; the results come to agree with the experimental data by Song et al. (2007) showing that the numerical model is applicable to a net cage. Copyright ? 2011 by the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE).
