Abstract:The condensing power plants under low vacuum operation, which provide exhaust steam for the low-temperature multi-effect distillation desalination system were presented to achieve water and power cogeneration. Based on the cogeneration some part of the exhaust from steam turbine was used to supply heat for the hot users. The matrix was used to solve the thermal system for power plant. Low-vacuum operation model was based on the calculation of off-design, using Friuli Nagel formulation. For the desalination process, equivalent temperature difference method was adopted. The thermo-economic model of the water cost was also established. The results show that there is a best evaporater effect number for the water cost as the effect number increases, and the best effect number will change under different heating load.
