Profile
Jiaxu Liu (Fushun, China, 1984) has been Full Professor of Catalysis Engineering at the School for Chemical Engineering, Dalian University of Technology, since December 2023.
He studied Chemical Engineering at the Dalian University of Technology, China (2003) and earned his PhD degree at Dalian University of Technology, China (2013). He worked in ETH, Zurich (2015). He has published over 100 articles (current h-index 23) and is co-inventor of 50 patents, 10 of which are under industrial exploitation. He has delivered more than 100 lectures in conferences, universities, research institutes, and companies around the world.
Prof. Jiaxu Liu pursues the scientific understanding and technological development of new catalytic materials and reactor engineering concepts favoring more sustainable manufacturing processes within the present and future chemical industry. The word 'sustainable' connotes intensified processes with an improved exploitation of raw materials, wider use of renewable feedstocks, reduction of energy consumption, and minimized environmental impact. Jiaxu's expertise includes heterogeneous catalysis in clean synthesis of fine chemicals, design of hierarchically structured zeolites for catalysis, and developing operando dual beam FT-IR spectroscopy to accurately characterize heter- ogeneous catalysis process under reaction conditions.
