Profile

Professor in State Key Lab of Structural Analysis for Industrial Equipment and Department of Engineering Mechanics.  Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from The Ohio State University and Post-doctor from Vanderbilt University. Prior to joining DLUT, I had been a Senior Engineer, Technical Leader, Senior Manager in the global Monitoring and Diagnostics (M&D) Center of Energy Service division at General Electric Company in US, leading thermal performance monitoring, analytics, diagnostics, and prognostics of combined cycle power plants, as well as pilot applications of Predix and Energy IoT in China customers and Qatar LNG plant,  and a Senior Manager in AI analytics at Mohawk Industries in US, leading the successful development and deployment of intelligent monitoring system for carpet manufacturing.  In March 2019 I joined the ENN group in China as a AI VP of Digital Energy Ltd Co and a Director of Digital Research Institute, leading the Incorporate digitalization and development of AI analytics for energy IoT. In October 2019 I joined the Dalian University of Technology (DLUT) and founded the Digital Twin Lab and DLUT-Shanghai Electric Joint AI Research Center. My technical background, publications, and research interests are in the diverse areas of condition based monitoring, diagnostics, AI analytics, prognostics, predictive maintenance, risk and reliability analysis, performance monitoring, Energy IoT, and model validation for engineering systems under uncertainties. I have co-authored 1 book, 5 book chapters, and nearly 100 research articles in the cross-disciplinary fields of computer science, engineering, AI, and applied statistics (3000+ citations). I have been ranked as one of top 30 global most-cited Chinese scholars by Elsevier China Science & Technology from 2014-2018 in Mechanical Engineering field.  Also I have received multiple awards in the past few years, such as patent awards, Liaoning talent award, and SAE Arch T. Colwell Merit award. I have been invited to serve as a peer reviewer, editorial board, or associate editor for more than 40 different international journals and conferences. I am the editoral committee member of three international journals and a registered professional engineer in the state of Ohio at USA.
