Hailong Wang graduated from the School of Management, Dalian University of Technology (DUT) of China with a B.E. degree in Industrial Management Engineering specialized in Foreign Trade in 1996, and received his master and doctor degrees in Technological Economics and Management from DUT in 2003 and 2008, respectively.

He is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor of the Institute of Science of Science and S&T Management (WISE Lab) of DUT. His major research interests include S&T Management and Policies, Sustainability Transitions, IP and Innovation Management, etc. He undertook and completed a number of projects including two projects of National Nature Science Foundation of China. He has published more than 50 academic papers and two books. He has been awarded the Second Prize of Philosophy and Social Sciences Achievement Award by the Liaoning Provincial Government, the Third Prize of Social Science and Technology Progress by the Dalian Municipal Government. He has also been awarded the tutor of Top Ten Postgraduate Academic Stars, the tutor of Excellent MPA Thesis Award by DUT.
