An algorithm for the rendering of object surface in voxel geometric model

摘要:In voxel geometric model, objects are represented by voxels and the surface of an object is represented by boundary voxels, rather than polygons, as the surface primitives. When the voxel size is equal to the pixel size on the raster display, the boundary voxels can be projected to the viewing plane as points, but aliasing artifacts and missing holes may be yielded on the raster display. Based on these boundary voxels a rendering surface is created and displayed by the algorithm of ray casting to get rid of those aliasing artifacts and missing holes. This algorithm can produce smoother images. The speed of creating the rendering surface is faster than the algorithm of dividing cubes.
