Abstract:Since the oil fields in the Bohai Gulf are marginal oil fields in cold region, most of in-service platforms in this region are economical ice-resistant jacket platforms. In this paper, the acceleration-based optimum design of offshore platforms subjected to ice load is studied, which focuses on the dynamic performance of the jacket platforms in terms of the deck acceleration. Considering the randomness of the ice thickness and velocity, a probability-based approach is proposed to determine the design ice case by the random ice spectrum and the pseudo excitation method. Finally, an example of the ice-resistant jacket platform demonstrates the applicability and feasibility of the proposed method. © Civil-Comp Press, 2008.
