Abstract:Two equivalent formulations for the algebraic Riccati equation are given first. The stiffness shifting method is introduced to transform the algebraic Riccati equation of the singular control problem, which has been free from singular characteristics. The ideas in the present paper are from the simulation relation between substructural chain theory in the structural mechanics with the discrete-time LQ optimal control problem.
