Abstract:This paper elaborates two kinds of strategies for optimum design of honeycomb structures, which are microstructure designs (uniform designs) and macrostructure designs (non-uniform designs). Thus, based on the analytical method, the investigation focuses on optimum uniform designs for a sandwich panels with honeycomb cores aiming at maximization of heat dissipation efficiency while maximizing mechanical stiffness. It is verified that Kagome cells possess superior performance on heat dissipation properties and mechanical strength than other single shaped cells.
