Abstract: In this paper, the cathode region in a normal and abnormal argon glow discharge has been analysed by a three-dimensional Monte Carlo simulation. This method, using a weighted mean method which reduces the number of particles followed, overcomes excessive computation time. The results show that the angular scattering has significant effects on the electron distribution function and the macroscopic electron parameters.
