Abstract:With the rapid expansion of large-scale hydropower system in China, the computing scale of optimal operation of the hydropower system is undergoing an explosive growth and the curse of dimensionality is becoming more and more serious. How to solve the problem effectively in a reasonable time has become a task of top priority in the smart power grid. Orthogonal dimension reduction search algorithm (ODRSA) is proposed on the basis of the orthogonal experiment design and neighborhood search. ODRSA takes the objective function as experimental index, hydropower stations as experimental factors, and the state values of each station as levels of the single factor. In ODRSA, some small but representative sample solutions are chosen by carrying out the orthogonal experimental design in the neighborhood of the initial solution. The initial solution will be updated to the better solution in the search process, and ODRSA will not stop the iteration until a satisfactory converge is obtained. The analysis result indicates that ODRSA has a square growth of time-space complexity. The simulation results of the hydropower system in Wujiang River show that ODRSA has strong global search ability and less parameter, which is an efficient algorithm for optimal operation of large-scale hydropower system. ? 2015 ASCE.
