Abstract:With respect to poor reliability in empirical design of hull block lifting, optimal design is considered. An assessment in adaptability of hanging point on the lifting plane is given, and then a primary scheme of hanging point is presented. An optimal model is established in order to minimize overall strain energy of the block in the lifting process. Particle Swarm optimization algorithm is applied as well as software MATLAB and ANSYS are used to solve the optimal design problem. Depending on the hanging position and block structure, carrying ability of the eye plate in each hanging position can be evaluated. © 2016, Editorial Office of Ship Building of China.
