Abstract:An analytical method of vibration analysis for the cracked pipe under complicated load conditions is presented in this study. The local flexibility equations of a pipe with crack at any angle under pure bending are established using the strain energy release rate theory and linear fracture mechanics. The adaptive Simpson quadrature method is applied to calculate the local flexibility due to crack. The proposed flexibility equations were validated by the experimental results, which show that the approach can be used to compute the dynamic characteristics of the pipe with straight part-through crack under pure bending.
