Abstract:The efffects of boron on the electrical conductivities of commercial aluminum have been studied.The results indicate that the resistivities of the commercial aluminum containing 0.01 -0.023%(mass fraction the same bellow) transition elements(Ti, V, Cr, Mn) can be decreased by adding the Al-3.35B% master alloy. Boron can form the lumpish boride phases with Ti, V and Fe also form the cottony boride phases with Ti, V, Fe and Zr, while the Ti, V and Zr in solution precipitate out of solution, that is the main reason of boron improving electrical conductivities of commercial aluminum. But Cr, Mn are not found in the two kinds of boride phases.
