Abstract:The microstructure and mechanical property of the Ni33Al28Cr5.5Mo0.5Hf alloys, treated under temperature 900 degrees C with a 10 T strong magnetic field, were studied in the present paper. After strong magnetic field treatment, it is found that the room temperature bending strength and tensile strength of the alloys are increased by 75% and 100%, respectively. Electron probe microanalysis shows that the Heusler phases at NiAl/Cr(Mo) grain boundaries are partially dissolved, and the small Heusler phases particle's at Cr(Mo) and matrix phases interfaces almost dissolved into NiAl matrix. It is supposed that the Heusler phase solution resulting from the strong magnetic field treatment improves the mechanical property of the NiAl intermetallic alloy.
