Abstract:The steam power system (SPS) design optimization is a multi-dimension, complex and systematic engineering work. The multiple fuel, multiple steam level, multiple equipment and variable demand characteristic bring great difficulty to the design work. A general strategy and systematic approach for multiperiod design optimization was proposed. The SPS could be regarded as the combination of all possible subsystems that supply steam or power. Heuristic method based on thermodynamic analysis was introduced to eliminate unreasonable subsystems from all possible subsystems. The initial design superstructure was made of the rest subsystems, and the candidate unit quantity and size were determined by discretizing method. It shows that based on the proposed thermodynamic analyzing and unit discretizing strategy, the design problem scale and complexity were reduced, and the optimality and operability of design scheme can be guaranteed.
