Abstract:This paper extends a new method, Precise Time Integration (PTI), to solve the transient heat conduction problem and its sensitivity equations. The numerical advantages such as unconditionally stable, high resolution and ete of the PTI have been demonstrated. Furthermore, an adaptive PTI method with selecting algorithm parameters automatically according to the given precision is proposed. This way, the temperature-field analysis and the sensitivity analysis of transient heat conduction problems are performed with new precise and adaptive PTI method. Detailed formulas are derived, and the sensitivity analysis of thermal stresses coupled with transient heat conduction is discussed. It shows that the influence of coupling temperature sensitivity on the stress sensitivity is very importance. The Sequential Quadratic/Linear Programming algorithms are used to solve the optimization problem of thermal structures. Numerical examples validate the methods.
