Abstract:An analytical solution of compression anchor subjected to a pull load is developed by assuming displacement consistent between anchor and soil, based on Mindlin solution of force at a point in the interior of a semi - infinite solid. The effect of soil elastic modulus and anchor diameter on shear distribution between anchor and soil is investigated by using this analytical solution. The result shows that soil elastic modulus affect the shear magnitude and distribution length while anchor diameter just affect the shear magnitude not distribution length. The study also shows that compression dispersed anchor can own greater capacity than compression centralized anchor with similar bonded lengths.
