Abstract: Aviation aluminium-alloy is widely used to manufacture the thin-wall parts in aviation area. For the low stiffness of thin-walled parts, high-speed milling provides an efficient approach for machining the aviation aluminium-alloy thin-walled parts with high quality and high efficiency, and the machining parameters directly affect the machining quality. Therefore, it is necessary to analyse the machining quality of aviation aluminium-alloy thinwalled parts under different machining parameters, based on which, the machining parameters are optimised correspondingly to reduce the surface roughness. Taking high-speed milling of typical 7075 aviation aluminium-alloy thin-walled parts as an example, the orthogonal experiment is adopted and then the range analysis is used for finding the optimal machining parameter combination. Experimental results show that the quality of workpiece is the best when spindle speed is 7,000 rpm, feed rate is 600 mm min-1 and radial feed rate is 0.3 mm within the given investigation parameter range.
