Abstract:Assembly tooling is often used as the fixture to support and position the aeronautical components in the large-scale aviation assembly process, which has the characteristics of large size and strict precision. The online detection accuracy of each positioning structure of the assembly tooling is an important factor to determine the final assembly quality of the aircraft. This paper proposes a novel automatic calibration method of the displacement sensors which are used in the online detection of the positioning structures. Unlike the traditional method, the proposed method treat the installation errors of the displacement sensors as the extrinsic parameters to be calibrated, instead of reducing them to ensure the measurement accuracy. A spatial measurement model is first proposed to make the measured displacement value to the 3D information. Then, the novel calibration method based on the spatial transformation theory is used to calibrate the extrinsic parameters through an automatic controlled high precision 6-Axis Miniature Hexapod. The feasibility and accuracy of the proposed method are verified as well, which provides a reliable guarantee for the high-accuracy displacement detection of the key positioning structure in the aircraft assembly process.
