Abstract:Ni-nano TiN composite coatings were successfully prepared on 45# steel substrates by ultrasonic-electro-deposition. The synthetic conditions of composite coatings were optimized through artificial neural network on the orthogonal test. And the morphologies of the coatings were investigated via scanning probe microscope (SPM). It was found that the optimal synthetic conditions were determined as follows: the concentration of nano TiN particles is 7.5 g/L, the current density used 5 A/dm(2), the duty cycle 3:2, the concentration of surfactants 80 mg/L and the ultrasonic power 250 W. The Ni-nano TiN composite coating prepared by the optimal synthetic conditions has a compact and fine microstructure which the average grain size of nano TiN is 80 nm, and the surface roughness of the coating is 14.6 nm.
