Abstract: In the title compound, C23H26BCl2F2N3, the three boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) fused heterocyclic rings are almost planar [r.m.s. deviation = 0.024 (9) angstrom]. The dihedral angle between the planes of the benzene ring and the BODIPY fused-ring fragment is 74.9 (8)degrees. The sp(3)-hybridized B centre appears as a slightly distorted tetrahedron, with N-B-N and F-B-F angles of 106.82 (15) and 109.83 (17)degrees, respectively. The two B-N distances in the central ring are almost identical, indicating delocalization of their charge. The two Cl atoms are disordered, with occupancies of approximately 0.85:0.15 and 0.60:0.40.
