Abstract:Test model is performed basing on the capillary effect of sand, the sedimentary direction of sand particle is within the range of 0° to 90°. The sand model is performed with triaxial tests under medium confining pressure, and the test results show that the sedimentary direction has obvious influence on strength and deformation characteristic of sand, meanwhile, a fitting relation between sedimentary direction and deviatoric stress is suggested. Mohr-Coulomb yield criteria are amended with test results, and a constitutive model for inherent anisotropy sand is suggested and applied to numerical analysis. The triaxial test for dense sand is modeled numerically with the former constitutive model, the change of deviatoric stress, volume change and principal stress direction are studied and compared between numerical analysis and test, and the result show that numerical results agree well with the test results. The suggested constitutive model is applicable to the study of inherent anisotropy for sand.
