Abstract: In this paper we are concerned with the quasilinear Schrodinger equation
   -Delta u + V(x)u - Delta(u(2))u = q(x)vertical bar u vertical bar(p-2)u, x is an element of R-N,
where N >= 3, 4 < p < 4N/(N - 2), and V(x) and q(x) go to some positive limits V-infinity and q(infinity) respectively as vertical bar x vertical bar -> infinity. Under a weak one-sided asymptotic estimate for V(x) and q(x) at infinity, we obtain the existence of a ground state solution.
