Abstract:In this study the air tightness of 14 apartments in 7 apartment buildings have been measured. One of these buildings is called 'low-energy building' where the air tightness has been taken notice. Also 10 single-family houses have been measured. Three of these houses are called 'Passive house'. The air tightness measurements have been made according to the standard EN 13829. In the standard the air leakage rate n50indicates the tightness of building. In apartment buildings the n50-values varied between 0.3-0.7 1/h and the average value was 0.5 1/h. The low-energy building was not more air tight than the other buildings. In single-family houses the n50-values varied between 0.3-3.1 1/h and the average value was 1.9 1/h. 'Passive houses' were much more air tight than the other houses.
