Abstract:In this paper, the adaptive chaos control (ACC) method is employed for the sequential optimization and reliability assessment (SORA) to provide an efficient and robust reliability-based design optimization (RBDO) approach. The stability transformation method is used to ensure the robustness of the advanced mean value (AMV) method for searching the most probable target point (MPTP). The angel update strategy is also employed for updating the chaos control factor adaptively according to the performance measure function type. The results of the numerical examples illustrate that the ACC method searches the MPTP correctly and the proposed RBDO approach performs well for the RBDO model with different types of performance measure functions. ?
