Abstract:This paper investigates the hydroelastic responses of the horizontal porous plate attached at the front of a very large rectangular floating structure. The model is based on two-dimensional linear potential theory and adopts Darcys law to represent energy dissipation. It is assumed that the permeable plates are made of material with very fine pores so that the normal velocity across the perforated plate is linearly associated with the pressure drop. In the analytic method, the eigenfunction-matching method for multiple domains is applied to solve the hydrodynamic problem and the elastic equation of motion is solved by the modal expansion method. In this paper, some design parameters of the porous plate are optimized, and then some calculation results for reference are obtained. ? 2019 by the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE).
