Abstract: The falling film absorption of aqueous water-lithium bromide solution on the outside surface of vertical tubes is experimentally investigated. One smooth and four enhanced tubes with different surface geometries are used. A mathematic model which couples heat and mass transfer is developed to simulate the absorption process, and the model simulation results are compared with the present experimental data. The results show that the DND tube is the optimal one among the five test tubes and the geometric shape of the enhanced tubes greatly affect the heat and mass transfer characteristics of the falling film absorption.
