Abstract:Production of H2 from electrolytic water splitting is recognized as one of the most promising strategies for renewable energy storage, and this strategy may enable direct utilization of the solar energy when further combined with solar cellsThrough investigation of Ni(OH)2/O-multiwall carbon nanotubes hybrid electrocatalyst, it was found that the synergistic effect between Ni(OH)2 and the oxidized carbon nanotube can promote oxygen evolution raction (OER) dramatically, and the weight percentage of Ni(OH)2 has to be optimized, results turned out that very love Ni(OH)2 content is needed to reach high activity for OER. A highly active OER catalyst under basic conditions was obtained, which can aid in achieving an overpotential as low as 270 mV versus reversible hydrogen electrode.
