Abstract:In power system, controlled fault interruption (CFI) is a key technology for smart grid. The difficulties of CFI include rapid accurate fault parameters estimation and zero-crossing prediction because of decaying DC component in fault current. The Taylor series expansion of the exponential term was kept the first two orders, and an algorithm based on Recursive Least Square (RLS) is used to estimate the fault parameter. Based on the analysis to the error of truncated Taylor series, a formula was proposed to compensate the calculation error. Using MATLAB, the simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can get sufficiently accurate parameters in 15 ms after fault and the prediction accuracy of available zero-crossing is in   0.25 ms.
