Abstract:IGBT modules, as a significant component of DC Micro-Grid Hybrid Circuit Breakers (MHCB), are usually composed of multiple IGBT parallel connections. IGBT parallel connection can not merely effectively improve the breaking capacity of IGBT modules, but bring about the problem of parallel current-sharing between a variety of IGBT modules. In view of the parallel current-sharing problem of IGBT modules, this paper analyzes several commonly used parallel current sharing methods of IGBT modules. Since IGBT modules are only in a Conduction state during the switching-on and switching-off of DC MHCB, resulting in extremely short turn-on time, the disadvantage that adding impedance method will increase power loss does not exist here. Therefore, adding impedance method has great superiority for DC MHCB. This paper carries out theoretical and experimental studies on the application of the adding impedance method in DC MHCB. According to the operating principle of DC MHCB, the current-sharing principle of adding impedance method and the effect of adding impedance on arc current commutation characteristics of DC MHCB were theoretically analyzed and derived. Finally, the results of theoretical analysis and derivation were verified through experiments.
