Abstract:Laser triggered switch(LTVS) is now playing a vital role in pulse power system. As it continues to progress and pulse power system capacity continues to grow, the system puts higher requirements on some key operative characteristics, like the flow capacity and the breaking characteristics. Therefore, this paper adopts LC high frequency oscillation circuit to explore the effect of different contact type, the role of the trigger material and the oscillation frequency on the breaking characteristics. The basic structure of LTVS and the experimental circuit are introduced. The magnetic field simulation results of the two contacts effectively explain its influence on the breaking characteristics. Under this experimental conditions, the relationship between maximum current for successful breaking and the oscillation frequency are analyzed in detail. The axial magnetic contact is more powerful than the flat contact, and it has better high-frequency breaking characteristics. The trigger material has a significant effect on the triggered conducting characteristics but it has little effect on breaking characteristic under high frequency conditions. All the above studies provide possibilities for the application of LTVS in the field of pulse power.
