The Cavitation Research in Reactor Coolant Pump

Abstract:Cavitation occurred in nuclear reactor coolant pump should be avoided. In this paper, the flow field in the mix-flow pump substituting the reactor coolant pump is simulated through the use of standard K - epsilon two equations model and cavitation model in mixed multiphase flow. The investigations of flow field at off-design conditions are conducted. Through changing inlet pressure, flow rate and temperature of fluid, critical cavitation state is determined. The results of simulation are presented and discussed at these different cases. The conclusions drawn from this paper lay a foundation to further study of cavitation in reactor coolant pump.
