Abstract:In order to accurately predict the viscosity of natural gas components,a binary regression analysis method is proposed in this work and the viscosity is expressed as a function of pressure and temperature. It is based on the principle of multivariate function calculus. In the range of temperature and pressure (230 K ≤ T≤450 K,p ≤20 MPa),for some components, the curves of viscosity with pressure at constant temperature have a certain regularity. The natural gas components are divided into three groups (Tc ≤230 K,Tc ≥450 K and 230 K < Tc < 450 K) according to the range of their critical temperature Tc.In order to demonstrate the binary regression analysis method,CH4 and iC5H12 were chosen from the first two groups as examples to make a regression analysis,by means of which the relationship between viscosity with temperature and pressure was determined.Compared to the REFPROP method and experimental data,in both cases the average absolute errors of the results of fitting were found to be less than 1% in the prediction of viscosity, which meet the requirements of engineering accuracy.
