Abstract:Dense gas leak usually happens with transportation and storage accident of toxic materials. Therefore, it is important to predict the dispersion of dense gas quickly due to the urgency of emergency response. In this study, we proposed a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) based parallel Lagrangian Particle Dispersion Model (LPDM) for simulating the dispersion of dense gas, and it takes account of the variable wind and obstacles, and advance particles' states concurrently. The experiment result shows that the GPU-based parallel method has a better speedup than traditional methods, that it can perform the simulation of dense gas dispersion in real time, and that it provides a useful tool for emergency response. ? 2012 ICIC International.
