Abstract:Tool breakage detection is very important for automated production line. However, the traditional way of using the sensor to detect the tool breakage has brought great inconvenience1 to the implementation. In this paper, the relationship between tool breakage, motor current and NC program sequence is studied and the correlation model is established. Then, the tool breakage detection method is given and the software system is developed. Finally, the above system has been tested in FANUC numerical control machine tool, which proved that the method is feasible.
