Abstract:A new pH indicator having high sensitivity and significant color change visible to the naked eye from red to blue in a narrow pH range (3.2-4.0) with high molar absorption coefficient was designed and synthesized from 2-amino-5-nitrothiazole and H-acid. The possible mechanism of the indicator was proposed by H-1 NMR and C-13 NMR titration experiments. This pH indicator was successfully applied in visualization of simulated gastric fluid acid pH changes in the simulated curing process of gastric ulcer.
